Transitions: Support Group for Kids in Changing Families
Thursday, October 18, 2018
Have there been some recent changes in your family that have turned your child’s world upside down?
Does your child seem angry, confused, anxious or sad?
Is your child acting out? Or shutting down?
Is your child having a difficult time coping with separation, divorce, or the absence of a parent?
Children and youth who have experienced significant transitions in their families (such as separation or divorce) often feel as if they are the only ones experiencing family change. They may have difficulties expressing their thoughts and feelings, experience considerable distress, and may feel powerless in the face of such overwhelming changes in their lives.
Coronado SAFE is pleased to announce a new confidential support group for kids. Transitions is designed to provide a safe space for children and youth to talk about their struggles, explore their feelings, gain new skills to cope with family changes, offer support to others and feel less alone. The 8-week group consist of 4-8 kids of similar age and is tailored to provide age-appropriate activities and research-based interventions. Each 90-minute group session will build upon the previous session.
