Game Club

Overview:

Game Club is an evidence-based, cognitive behavior intervention for 9th through 12th graders at Coronado High School. During the 40 minute weekly interactive sessions at Coronado High School, Game Club encourages social connection and practical application of social skills.  Utilizing an assortment of board games, yard games, and crafts, these experiential activities help students explore their current friendships, initiate new relationships, and connect with trusted Safe Harbor specialized adults.  Students gain an increased sense of connection, increased self-esteem, and a more positive view of self, as well as increase the number of significant friendships.  

Goals:

  • Encourage social connection and practical application of social skills 

  • Utilize an assortment of board games and activities that help students explore their current friendships, initiate new relationships, and connect with trusted adults 

  • Increased impulse control, self-esteem, communication, and problem-solving skills  

  • Decreased stress and increased physical and mental health 

  • Help students make better connections with peers
