Job Description:

Coronado SAFE (Student And Family Enrichment) is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to offer preventative services and focused intervention to improve the emotional and behavioral health of youth and their families in Coronado. The Director of Programs and Clinical Counseling will work directly with the Executive Director to expand and develop community education and clinical programs to meet this objective. The Director of Programs and Clinical Counseling will also oversee all aspects of SAFE’s individual and group counseling initiatives, including supervising and mentoring interns and trainees from accredited social work MSW & MFT programs as well as registered associate counselors.

Clinical Counseling Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of fee-for-service clinical counseling programs
  • Supervise and mentor social work and MFT trainees & interns and registered associate counselors
  • Identify community needs and work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to expand youth and family counseling programs accordingly
  • Provide individual and group counseling

Programming Responsibilities:

  • Organize and lead existing youth and family outreach and educational programming in Coronado
  • Respond to emerging community needs by developing and implementing new youth and family programs to support SAFE’s mission
  • Promote and expand interdisciplinary partnerships within the community to offer alternative, integrated support and interventions for youth and families in addition to clinical counseling services
  • Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with community stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a minimum of 3 years individual and group counseling experience working with youth and families
  • Meets the CA BBS requirements for supervising Associate Clinical Social Workers and Associate Marriage & Family Therapists and trainees
  • Knowledge of alternative, integrated approaches to behavioral health and an enthusiasm for expanding SAFE’s community services and programming to include these interventions
  • Previous experience with nonprofit educational programming and outreach activities strongly preferred
  • Willingness to support and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse body of community stakeholders (schools, police department, city government, donors) and area graduate school programs in social work and marriage & family therapy
